A pretty Toronto home

I was leisurely scrolling through all my favourite blogs - trust me this takes a long time - and I came across this beautiful apartment on 79 ideas. It's the Toronto home of Nikole Herriott, 50% owner of the father-daughter company Herriott Grace, featured in Covet Garden. Hand on heart - this is my idea of the perfect apartment - light, white with a touch of history and individuality. The dining table is what I've been looking for the past 3 years too.

Pretty home?

I am so happy to see so many people have already entered my blog Give-away! I've loved reading all your comments and wish you could all win! There's still time left to enter so please do stop by here if you fancy a chance of winning a Pappelina rug.

Have a lovely afternoon!

Perfect blend: rustic/ industrial/ contemporary

After 8 years in Sweden I thought I knew how to deal with the long winter; leave the country when the snow arrives! If you travel to the Canary Islands or Thailand around early spring you're bound to be surrounded by tanned Swedes stocking up on some much needed sun! But this Autumn I noticed something new-  everyone's heading off now too. A holiday in September presumably to soften the blow of the end of the summer. Since I have missed the boat (litereally) I'm mentally transporting myself  to this stunning home in Spain by architects / property developers Abaton (via 79 ideas) instead. It has just the right mix of Spanish rustic, industrial and modern designer elements to really soften the blow of the impending winter.

I spy Tom Dixon again in the form of the Beat Lights (just goes tp show how versatile Tom Dixon lights are - yesterday the Copper Shade Pendant looked at home in a retro style home, today the Beat Lights look fab in a contemporary minimalist home. The Wegner Wishbone Chairs also blend in beautifully. I could certainly see myself celebrating the end of summer here, could you?

Do you have any winter survival tips?!

A relaxed Parisien family home

Today's inspiration; a fun, relaxed well loved apartment in Paris beautifully captured by Danish photographer; Morten Holtum, for Elle Deco. You can practically feel the wonderful vibe in this family home of Irene and Thomas Cohen, owners of fab children's brand Bonton oozing out of the pictures. Plus there are so many details, every time I look I spot something new!

I particularly love the red and white dotted kitchen table matched by the little set of children's toadstall tables, so cute! Dots are set to be a huge trend in fashion and interiors this Autumn/Winter and this is such a lovely way of incorporating them into the home. Anything in particular you love about this space? Apart from the location of course!

PS I know a certain Erin from Like/ Want / Need blog who will dreeeeam of owning this apartment in the centre of Paris!

The home of a LA photographer

If some one works in the art world you can almost count on the fact that they will have a wonderful home. The home of LA photographer Amy Neusinger is definitely no exception! Mostly white with a romantic touch, Amy has added a spot of industrial to create a truly interesting and beautiful space. Vackert!

Have a lovely weekend all and see you Monday! x

Beautifully renovated workers cottage

Today it was 30 degrees in Southern Sweden - THIRTY! Which I think calls for inspiration from a cool, airy, home.  This 19th century workers cottage in Queensland, Australia, featured in Remodelista, is the fabulous home of photographer, stylist, buyer and seller Kara Rosenlund. Kara and her husband lovingly restored and renovated the home back to it's former glory adding a unique contemporary touch. Beautiful, and perfect for a lovely sunny day (just watch out for the pineapples.....)!

Traditional meets modern in France

A rare weekend post but I simply couldn't resist sharing this absolutely beautiful home in Sante-Marie-de-Ré, featured in the equally beautiful and inspiring interior magazine; Marie Claire Maison. It's the home of painter Catherine Le Van and her husband, both of whom are passionate about design.  I love the perfect marriage of traditional and contemporary items.

A renovated Farmer's cottage

Well, well, well! Architects Calvin Tsao and Zack McKown certainly knew what they were doing when they renovated this former farmer's cottage in upstate New York. If I could own a weekend retreat, this would be it. I've heard of people moving houses....

I think the thing I love the most about this retreat is all of the interesting objects and artifacts displayed. So many beautiful wooden pieces too. Fabulous home, what do you reckon?

A little piece of Scandinavia in Toronto

Because the summer's not over yet - here is a beautiful Scandinavian styled guest house in Toronto, Canada owned by John and Juli Baker of Mjolk, an online shop selling items by Scandinavian and Japanese designers (it's starting to become a bit of dangerous week!).
